Lake View Country Club

The Investigation Continues

With the temperatures on the rise, all so briefly, I was hoping that the ice and snow melt would be a little further along. No Such Luck! But we did get an opportunity to get back out on the golf course to check on the ice.

As part of collecting information, I contacted some of the other superintendents in the region to see what they were experiencing. Well, not only were their golf courses void of ice, most of the snow was gone on their courses as well. Why the difference? Out of the four country clubs in Erie, Lake View is at the highest elevation and the furthest distance away from Lake Erie. The higher elevation equates to lower temperatures and the greater distance from the lake means more snow fall. Both equate to a harsher winter and greatly increase the occurrence of ice accumulation. In addition, our exposed location on top of the ridge line that runs along the southern boundary of Lake Erie usually means more wind which adds to the potential of even lower temperatures.

In response to the previous two videos, quite a few members made positive comments as well as requesting more of the same. I agree, it's a great way to communicate and it's much better than a simple photograph. So, with that said, Here's another video.
