Leaving Well Enough Alone
Published June 5, 2007

Sometimes doing nothing at all can be the best remedy. In this case, the hydraulic fluid was dispersed enough that it spared enough turf to allow for recovery. If we were to sod this area, we would pretty much take it out of play for a period of time while the new sod knits in. We would also have to raise the height and apply liberal amounts of water to ensure it's recovery both which would reduce consistency and puttability on that portion of the green. As it stands now, this area putts consistent with the rest of the green and we are able to keep it in play. As each day passes the grass is on an uphill road to full recovery. Really, the only downfall is the color. So, for the good of the game, we're going to let this one heal on its own.
