That's how I'd describe the weather yesterday and today along with what we're expecting on Friday. What a great way to start the golfing season. Especially after a couple of bad winters followed by what is being considered as one of the toughest summers in the last twenty.

The golf course over-wintered very well. There is very little snow mold and the rough is off to a good start. If this trend continues we may be mowing as early as next week.

Slated for a May 1st start, we're looking forward to the commencement of the tee renovations. As I coordinate with the contractor to finalize the details, I'll post updates in regard to which tees are first as well as a projected flow of the project. During the course of this project there will be times when we will have to utilize temporary tees. We will be making an effort to lesson the disruption to play as much as possible and we will do everything possible to have the new tees back in play as early as possibly feasible. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated in this regard. Remember, this is a short-term inconvenience for a long term improvement.

As I mentioned earlier, last year was tough and some areas have yet to fully recover. To accelerate the recovery process, we will be stimulating growth in the affected areas with additional fertilizer applications and enhanced cultural practices. Most noticeable are some thinned areas on portions of #2 green. Suffering from poor drainage and inadequate sunlight, this green has not been our best and has been a thorn in our side all summer long. We'll be paying close attention to this green in an effort to make full a recovery.
